Between 2016 and 2018, I held the unique position of being the sole concert cellist and cello teacher in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During that time, I performed chamber music (specifically piano trio) at prestigious venues such as the German Embassy and the Goethe Institute.
An exciting opportunity arose when I was invited to play at an engagement ceremony in Manama, Bahrain. Additionally, at the request of the Delegation of the European Union, I had the honor of performing at the Jeddah Book Fair in 2017, marking the first-ever public classical music concert in the history of Saudi Arabia.
In 2017, I organized a memorable Christmas concert. As we played traditional Christmas songs, children enthusiastically joined in using various bells. The event brought joy to expat families, creating a special Christmas season despite being far from home.
I also lent my support to the Riyadh Choral Society, the sole performing choir in Saudi Arabia. One notable concert featured beloved Broadway musicals like “Hamilton,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Porgy and Bess.”
Together with my friend and violinist Rasha, I co-founded the Riyadh Music Society. Our society quickly became the epicenter for classical music in Saudi Arabia. Although we both left the country in 2018, our Instagram account remains active, documenting our diverse musical endeavors.
